C.S.I. School For the Partially Hearing, Manakala, Adoor in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala was started on June 1981, the International Year of Disabled. The Government of Kerala granted recognition to the school in 1989.

C.S.I. School For the Partially Hearing, Manakala, Adoor in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala was started on June 1981, the International Year of Disabled. The Government of Kerala granted recognition to the school in 1989. The method of total communication is used for the teaching-learning process.
The Higher Secondary section started functioning on October 2000 with two batches — Science and Commerce. Though our institution is a special school for hearing impaired students, we follow the same SCERT syllabus followed by Government and Aided schools in General stream. Separate Hostel facilities are provided for boys and girls. Now we have about 140 students and 25 staff from KG to Higher Secondary classes.
Bishop Moore College For The Hearing Impaired, affiliated to the University of Kerala, offering Degree courses in B.Sc Computer Science and B.Com also started functioning in the same campus during the academic year 2014-15. This is one among the very few institutions offering Degree courses for the Hearing Impaired.
Under the visionary leadership of Bishop Rt Rev Dr. Malayil Sabu Koshy Cherian, our institution continue to empower students with hearing impairments, fostering their academic, personal and professional growth. They are provided with opportunities for showcasing their talents in extra curricular activities through various programmes like Youth Festival, Work Experience Fair etc, so as to enhance overall development and satisfaction in life.
History
Education ministry is a legacy we have inherited from the CMS missionaries. What we strive to do is the upliftment of the common people by providing them with better education. C.S.I. Madhya Kerala Diocese has special concern for the less privileged and the differently abled. It is the C.S.I. Madhya Kerala Diocese which took initiative in the education and rehabilitation of the hearing impaired children in Kerala. C.S.I. HSS For The Deaf which was originally started in Pallom in 1938 and then transferred to Thiruvalla is the first institution of this kind.
C.S.I. School For the Partially Hearing, Manakala, Adoor in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala was inaugurated in a rented building with 10 children by Rt Rev. T. S. Joseph, Bishop of C.S.I. Madhya Kerala Diocese on June 1981. The foundation stone for our own building at Thazhathumon was laid on 9th Dec 1986 and dedicated on 4th June 1991 by Rt. Rev M. C. Mani, the Bishop of C.S.I. Madhya Kerala Diocese. This building was constructed with the aid received from Tear Fund, London. Sri. Mathew Philip was the first headmaster of the school. The school provides dedicated speech therapy to improve the speech and language for children with communication disorders. Speech classes are also conducted during vacation periods.
